The GCPS Reopening and Recovery Plan emphasizes how the school system will ensure continuity of services, including but not limited to services to address students' academic needs and students' and staff's social, emotional, mental health, and other needs. The plan also incorporates how the school system will maintain the health and safety of students, educators, and school system staff.

The Garrett County Board of Education will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. The Board will meet at Northern Middle School in the cafeteria. The meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed for public review.

Hickory Environmental Education Center recently offered a 2-day/1-night residential camp for current Garrett County fifth-grade students transitioning to 6th grade next school year. This allowed students to meet future classmates and increase their skills and self-confidence in a natural setting.

The Garrett County Public Schools (GCPS) Food & Nutrition Services Dept. will not distribute meals on July 4th due to the holiday. Instead, Thursday meal distribution will occur a day earlier, on Wednesday, July 3rd, at the same times and locations.
