The Magic Cafe Forums - Common questions asked in a Q&A act (5)0

Are there some questions that are asked more often than others?

are there some questions you get all the time? (like: "tell me the lotto numbers")

Do you think that there are cultural differences?

I get very often:
"is my current partner mr. right?" (in different phrasings)
or the lotto question.
in groups people often ask more general questions - they´re too shy to ask personal questions.
I once had: "Who will be our next president?" - which is quite a though question!

Is it just me, or do you have similar experiences?

Great question!

I have only been doing Q&A for 13 months now but have found that same question comes up a lot about the partner being the right one.

Other interesting ones are:

"Will I go on holiday this year?"
"Will I ever be able to get ut of this job?"

I use my own Q&A method at the moment, P.at which method are you using?

Also, have you experimented with Message Reading as oppose to Questions? I play with both and havent decided which way to go just yet.

People even ask me a question just from seeing magic. The three they asked usually are, "Since you know magic...

...tell me the next lottery number." I always answer that by saying, "But we just met, you could be undercover FBI looking for me." Sometimes they tell me to just give them a million, they will not say anything. I answer that with the FBI might be offering two million as a reward.

...why aren't you rich?" I say, "I do not like living that way. People beg me too much. I like living normal better." Or "Because the FBI will be looking for me wondering how I'd got rich."

...when am I going to meet Mr. Right?" or ...the man I am talking to now, is he the right one for me?" or ...what is the name of the man I'm going to marry?" I say, "I would tell you, but I can feel if I told you now, it's going to mess everything up because you will be too anxious. Just give it time and you will see."

Thanks for your posts!

@Dynamike:
I have the feeling that we´re talking about different things. I´m talking about questions you´d ask somebody who could really know an answer.

@Ken Dyne:
I use the center tear from richard busch with bigger index cards. works good for me.

but i´d be interested if others have come across other questions that they get often. or very often.
And I wonder if that tells somebody about the performer?!?

post your common Q&A act questions!

On topic, I also get the partner question a lot. I'm sure it will always be that way. I also get a lot of work related questions, of course, and these are mainly about either job changes or a promotion at the same job, i.e. a raise . . .

And coming in third seems to be about travel plans and vacation. I have not ever seen or received questions concerning the lotto, but I play very serious (not to say that others don't as well!).

Health questions seem to be avoided by people in groups. They want personal, but not INTIMATE. I find a lot of "safe" questions are being asked, with the more deep and personal ones coming from people who want a private reading.

Best,
J.

TT2 how do you feel about giving specific answers?

e.g.: "you´ll be promoted during the next two months"

or something similar?

I often get asked: "When will I, will I be famous?"

To which I reply: "I can't answer, I can't answer that"

This depends on the severity of the question. The more specific we are, the more powerful Q & A becomes. This is a tough question though, for many reasons. PM me if you would like to speak in private.

Best,
Jerome.

The lottery question comes up often for me.
Q: What is tomorrows winning lottery number?
A: If I knew that, what would I be doing here tonight?

Another:
Q: Am I going to have a boy or a girl.
A: Yes, you will have a boy or a girl.

Ah..with any lottery question, especially when said almost as a dare...i do this:

grab a piece of paper and a pen
write down six numbers...straight away, no thinking...

hand it to them and smile, saying "i just won't tell you when those six numbers will come up..."

and hey, if they come up, you've just got the biggest publicity in the world - if not..your prediction may still come true...

(oh and do a lottery line yourself on the way home just in case)

"Mentalist Predicts Lottery Numbers."

I like that Iain, you've gotta be in it to win it.

Lottery question...I think I first saw this approach in one of Herb Dewey's books...

Tell them you will do their numerology chart (Lo Shu square works good here...google it). Then when you have their birth number, year number, and some others set them up with the appropriate amount of lucky numbers for the lottery in question.

Then say to them, "I cannot guarantee you will win the lottery, obviously everyone can not. Still, if it is your fate, your destiny to win the lottery these are the numbers you will do it with."
